Cuban Picadillo Recipe

------------------------------------------------------------

Ingredients:

2 pounds lean ground beef
1/2 green pepper
1 onion (finely chopped)
2 cloves garlic
1/4 cup dry red cooking wine
1/2 teaspoon cumin
8 to 10 cherry tomatoes
1/4 cup raisins
1 bay leaf

Directions:

  • Place olive oil in non-stick saucepan and add garlic, onion and pepper.

  • Sautee over low heat until soft (approximately 2 ).

  • Add ground beef , salt and pepper to taste.

  • Move heat to medium and keep turning mixture until beef is browned.

  • Add cherry tomatoes, raisins, bay leaf and cooking wine.

  • Reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered for approximately 15 minutes or until mixture has thickened and ground beef is cooked through.

  • Remove bay leaf and serve over white rice.

Extra Tip:

 

Traditionally peccadillo is served over fluffy white rice with a light salad, and fried plantains on the side.
