English Shepherds Pie Recipe

Ingredients:

1 pound ground beef
1 onion (finely chopped)
1 cup frozen peas
1/2 cup carrots (diced)
2 cloves garlic (minced)
1 packet brown gravy mix
1/2 cup water
Worcestershire sauce to taste
Salt and pepper to taste
6 cups mashed potatoes

Directions:

  • Boil potatoes until tender. Drain water and mash without adding any additional ingredients and set aside.

  • In a heavy skillet brown meat, onion and garlic for about 4 to 5 minutes. Drain fat.

  • In a separate bowl stir together gravy mix and hot water.

  • Add gravy mixture, Worcestershire sauce, carrots and peas to ground beef mixture. Stir well.

  • Place ground beef mixture at bottom of baking pan.

  • Top with mashed potatoes.

  • Make a swirl design on mashed potatoes using fork and sprinkle with salt.

  • This will help the potatoes brown lightly at the top.

  • Bake at 350F approximately 30 to 45 minutes or until potatoes are lightly golden brown.
